Personality sliders is a brand strategy exercise that helps set the tone for your brand communication. This exercise is really valuable when designing new products or while redesigning existing products. It can be used as a decision making factor for voice and tone, look and feel and any other external communication. The way it works is simple. You position your company between pairs of extremes. Typically, you want to be either end of the spectrum for at least a couple traits.

  1. Draw a diagram on the whiteboard with 5 ranges.
  2. Elite to Mass Appeal
  3. Serious to Playful
  4. Conventional to Rebel
  5. Friend to Authority
  6. Mature & Classic to Young & Innovative
  7. Hand participants dot stickers to cast their vote on each slider pair
  8. Discuss any sliders where there might be disagreements
  9. Ask the decider to cast the final vote and plot their final choices on the whiteboard
