Advanced Facilitation
Facilitation is the discipline of designing conversations. But how do we mindfully and intentionally design human dialogue? What are the levers of design and the principles to guide us? Over the past two years Daniel has been interviewing people on The Conversation Factory podcast to peel back the layers of conversation design and to discover principles for shaping conversations. We'll spend a day focused on the principles of transformative facilitation and work together to practice them mindfully. You’ll leave with a core set of tools and mindsets to apply in your facilitation practice.
Intro to Design Sprints with the Google Sprint Master Academy
Many people are familiar with Design Sprints from the GV book Sprint, a fantastic resource for people looking to learn how to run their own Sprints. Inside Google we teach a slightly different flavor of the methodology which is optimized for working within a larger organization. In this 6 hour workshop, you will have the opportunity to try out the Google Design Sprint methodology, in order to build muscle memory, gain familiarity with the methods, and walk away with a set of tools you can incorporate into your product development process. We will cover the framework, when to use Sprints and what they can accomplish.
Storytelling in Sprints
Building great products takes more than great execution. Success often involves getting buy-in from many different kinds of people who aren't necessarily close collaborators. But frequently, we fail to present our work and outcomes in a way that actually engages stakeholders and partners. In this workshop you will learn how we as humans are hard-wired to hear stories, and how to tap into that reality with better storytelling. We will cover the basics of what makes stories work, some techniques you can use in your everyday work, and we will practice crafting a story ourselves.
